We entered Byblos late at night. Built our tents on the barren camping place. The camping area was part of the hotel, but nobody remembers here tourists sleeping in tents anymore. The oldest grandpas in the old city maybe. The hotel was also empty. The air was hot so we refused to spent precious time by building such a useless thing as a ten, which we even did not have with us. What for? Rain was here at the beginning of this year for the last time. We laid down our bags by the fresh olive tree and left camping place for the hotel bar. There are 40/60% inhabitants christian/muslim in Lebanon. So you can buy and even drink in the public delicious wines and quite tasty beers. Although here was only one beer label possible to buy called Almaza. But it was quickly drink-able.… Čítať ďalej »

I have my eyes opened all the time when I travel, even at night time. My travels are not quite usual sightseeing trips, although I do visit all the sites that are available in that country. You know, when you are in that corner of the world you would give anything to get as much of that place as possible. This mostly marked my trip to Lebanon. I was there two years ago, during the September 2007. In the December that year started the rumours again. When we returned home that time we thought that we captured the last opportunity to see the country. Maybe we were wrong, but after what we saw, we were absolutely convinced, that the tension, hatred, wish to revenge the dead and unjust, make the air explosive like cave full of gun powder.… Čítať ďalej »

Izraelské bomby z války v roce 2006 stále ničí Libanon

Téměř čtyři roky po tom, co Izrael rozházel miny v jižním Libanonu během zničující války s Hizballáhem, se mladý Muhammad al-Hadždž Mússa těžko odhodlává mluvit o dni, kdy ztratil své nohy. Dne 11. srpna 2006, jel tento hubený tmavovlasý chlapec se svým otcem na motorce, aby dodali jídlo do blízkého města zničeného izraelskými útoky, když jedna z min explodovala pod jejich kolem. „Později mi řekli, že mě našli v potoce asi čtyři hodiny po výbuchu,” řekl AFP nyní patnáctiletý Muhammad žijící ve zchátralém domě v palestinském uprchlickém táboře Al-Bass, který se nachází na jižním pobřeží ve městě Tyros. „Probral jsem se, když mě táhli z vody, a už jsem to věděl. Libanon. Smutná krajina cédrov

Úzky pásik zeme obmývanej vlnami Stredozemného mora v srdci Blízkeho Východu, vysoké kopce pokryté snehom, pláže so zlatistým pieskom, lesy storočných cédrov, bohatstvo starovekých civilizácii, francúzsky šarm zmiešaný s arabskou pohostinnosťou a stopy po guľkách občianskej vojny. To všetko a ešte viac charakterizuje Libanon, no našinec si pri vyslovení jeho mena spomenie predovšetkým na vojnu, ktorá sa týmto príťažlivým kúskom sveta prehnala. V krajine štyri krát menšej ako je Slovensko sa vystriedali Feničania, Rimania, Arabi, prehnali sa ňou križiaci, vládli tu Osmani a napokon Francúzi. Z každého národa tu niečo ostalo a utvorili rozmanitú mozaiku. Jeho brány sa opäť otvárajú turistom a tí naozaj neodchádzajú sklamaní.
